Jodhpur, the blue city, Rajasthan, India.
Description
A view on part of the old town in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. Jodhpur is called the blue city for the many blue painted houses in the old parts of town. There are however different theories as to what the blue signifies; with some believing it to identify devotees of Lord Shiva (whose blood is blue); and others believing it identifies caste and social status, with many Brahmins (the priestly caste) using the colour to differentiate their abodes from other castes.
